A company source is another business that sends you work: a dispatcher, a call centre, a bigger contractor, or a partner who passes on the jobs they cannot take. You set the percentage you have agreed with them once, and from then on the CRM works out their cut on every job they send you and keeps a running total.
1 Open the Company Source tab
Sign in to your dashboard and click Company Source in the top menu. You will see the Add company source form, with your existing companies listed underneath.
2 Fill in the company details
| Field | What to put in it |
|---|---|
| Company name | The business sending you the work. This is what you will pick when booking a job. |
| Percentage you work with them (%) | The share of each job they keep. Enter 10 for ten percent, 20 for twenty, and so on. |
| Color | Their colour marker, so you can spot their jobs quickly in your lists. |
| Phone | Their contact number. Optional, but handy when you need to chase a job. |
| Their contact address. Optional. |
Click Add company and they appear under Current companies right away. To change anything later, click their row.
3 Tag a job with the company that sent it
When you book a job, choose the business in the Company source dropdown on the new job form. That single choice is what drives their percentage, their totals and their reports.
Leave it empty for your own work. A job with no company source simply has nothing deducted for one.
4 Understand the split
The company's percentage is calculated on the job total after parts are deducted, the same as your technician's. Here is a job that closed at $400 with $50 of parts, a technician on 50%, sent to you by a company source on 10%:
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Job total | $400.00 |
| Less parts | -$50.00 |
| Net | $350.00 |
| Technician, 50% of net | $175.00 |
| Company source, 10% of net | $35.00 |
| Total deposit to the company | $140.00 |
Each closed job shows these figures, and your reports carry a Company source $ column so you can see exactly what is owed.
5 See what each company brought in
Open Company Reports to see the totals per business: how many jobs they sent, what those jobs came to, and their share. Pick a date range at the top, the same way you do everywhere else, then settle up for the week or the month.
You can also filter your main job list by Company source in the search bar to see only their jobs.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| There is no Company Source tab | You are on the Free plan. Company sources start on Lite. Open Billing to upgrade. |
| Their share shows as zero on a job | The job was booked without a company source selected, or the company's percentage is blank. Open the job, set the company source, and check the percentage on their profile. |
| You changed the percentage and old jobs changed too | That is expected. The percentage is read from the company's profile whenever figures are shown, so it applies to their past jobs as well. If your deal changes, settle the old period first, then update the number. |
| The totals look too low | Remember the percentage is taken after parts. A job with a lot of parts leaves a smaller net for everyone to share. |
| You want to stop using a company | Leave them in place so their history and reports stay intact, and simply stop selecting them on new jobs. |
